Base metals surge on firm demand

Most base metals, including nickel, copper and brass, surged at the non-ferrous metal market here today on stockists buying amid persistent demand from industrial users.
However, zinc slipped owing to subdued offtake from alloy industries.
Copper cables scrap and copper wire bar climbed by Rs 6 per kg each to Rs 380 and Rs 408 from overnight level of Rs 374 and Rs 402.
Nickel gained by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 795 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 790.
Copper scrap heavy rose by Rs 4 per kg to Rs 373 as against Rs 369.
Copper armiture and brass utensils scrap advanced by Rs 3 per kg each to Rs 362 and Rs 271 from Rs 359 and Rs 269.
Copper sheet cutting moved down by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 356 against Rs 354 yesterday.
Copper utensils scrap and brass sheet cutting softened by Re 1 per kg each to Rs 339 and Rs 276, respectively.
Zinc eased by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 183 from Rs 185.
