Most of the base metals surged at the non-ferrous metal market today on sustained stockists buying amid heavy demand from industrial users on the back of bullish global cues.
Overseas, nickel in Shanghai rallied more than 7 % in early Asian trade, while London prices also jumped ahead of a meeting among Chinese producers tomorrow to discuss possible production cuts.
Nickel and tin climbed by Rs 15 per kg each to Rs 745 and Rs 1,135 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 730 and Rs 1,120.
Copper cable scrap, copper armature and copper wire bar also rose by Rs 4 per kg each to Rs 379, Rs 373, Rs 367 and Rs 407 from Rs 375, Rs 369, Rs 363 and Rs 403, respectively.
Zinc edged up by Rs 3 per kg to Rs 144 as compared to Rs 141 previously.

Copper utensils, scrap, and copper sheet cuttings advanced by Rs 8 per kg each to Rs 350 and Rs 366 as against Rs 342 and Rs 358 yesterday.
