Base metals up on positive global cues

The prices of base metals, led by copper, rose up to Rs 5 per kg at the local non-ferrous metals market today on the back of a firm global trend.
Traders said sentiments bolstered after copper advanced in global markets as a private gauge of Chinese factory output beat economist estimates, boosting demand prospects in the biggest user as stockpiles shrink.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months climbed one per cent to USD 6,890 a metric tonne, the highest since June 3 on the London Metal Exchange.
In the national capital, copper mixed scrap and zinc strengthened by Rs 2 each to Rs 445 and Rs 113-119, while lead ingot and lead imported traded higher by the same margin to Rs 119 and Rs 117 per kg, respectively.
In line with a general firm trend, nickel (4x4) rose by Rs 5 to Rs 1,094-1,100 per kg.
Following are today's metal rates per kg:
Zinc ingot 113-119, nickel plate (4x4) 1,099-1,100 gun metal scrap 227, bell metal scrap 229, copper mixed scrap 445, chadri deshi 285.
Lead ingot 119, lead imported 117, aluminium ingots 152, aluminium sheet cutting 153, aluminium wire scrap 155 and aluminium utensils scrap 152.
