Bathinda coldest at 2.7 deg C as cold wave continues in Punjab

The severe cold wave sweeping Punjab and Haryana continued unabated, with Bathinda today reeling at a minimum temperature of 2.7 degrees Celsius.
Bathinda was the coldest place in Punjab as icy winds swept most other places in the state, Meteorological department officials said here.
Piercing cold swept Amritsar, which recorded a low of 3.3 degrees Celsius while Pathankot, too, was cold at 3.6 degrees Celsius.
Severe chill prevailed in Adampur, which recorded a low of 4 degrees Celsius.
Ludhiana, Halwara and Patiala, too, experienced a cold night recording respective minimum temperatures of 5.2 degrees Celsius, 5.4 degrees Celsius and 7.5 degrees Celsius.
The night temperatures registered a further drop in Chandigarh as well and the low here settled at 7 degrees Celsius.

However, foggy weather which had prevailed in Chandigarh during the past five days, cleared and the residents here today woke up to a bright sun shine.
In Haryana, Hisar was the coldest place recording a low of 4 degrees Celsius.
Narnaul braved the chill at 4.5 degrees Celsius, while Karnal recorded a low of 5 degrees Celsius.
Rohtak was cold at 6.2 degrees Celsius while Ambala registered a minimum of 8 degrees Celsius.
The maximum temperature in the two states, including Chandigarh, have also dropped by few notches for the last four days and have been settling in the range of 15-18 degrees Celsius.
The MeT officials said that fog reduced visibility at a few places in Punjab and Haryana in the morning today.
