Filmmaker Michael Bay is looking to produce and direct World War II drama "Sabotage", an action-packed story about a group of fearless Norwegians on a mission to infiltrate the Nazi-occupied country.
The movie will be based on Neal Bascomb's non-fiction book proposal about the historical Norwegian heavy water sabotage, reported Aceshowbiz.
Paramount Pictures has acquired the rights to the non-fiction book proposal from Bascomb.
Set in 1942, the story follows an apparent suicide mission by nine Norwegian refugee commandos to sabotage Hitler's secret nuclear program. This team must brave the arctic landscape and destroy Norway's Vemork Hydroelectric Plant on icy cliffs.
The Norwegian heavy water sabotage has been adapted into film at least twice. The first one is a 1948 semi-documentary by Norwegian production "The Fight Over the Heavy Water".
The second one is "The Heroes of Telemark" released in 1965. Directed by Anthony Mann, it was supported by Kirk Douglas, Richard Harris, Ulla Jacobsson, and Michael Redgrave.
Bay's new movie "Transformers: Age of Extinction" will be released on June 27 next year.
