A 20-year-old management student, busy in preparations for his elder sister's marriage, was killed in a road accident in Vivek Vihar area while his pledge to donate his eyes could not be fulfilled due to alleged apathy of police and hospitals.
Vinay Jindal, a resident of Jhilmil in Vivek Vihar area of East Delhi, died when his scooty was hit by a speeding car at Kasturba Nagar traffic light last night. He had lost his father at a young age.
Vinay, a BBA student of IP University, was busy in the preparations of marriage of his elder sister scheduled tomorrow, said a relative of the deceased.
"He had wished to donate his eyes after death and contacted a few hospitals. But they did not help much. Also, when we asked police to help us in fulfilling Vinay's wish, they could not do anything," he said.
He is survived by his sister and mother who are in deep shock over their loss, the relative said.
"We had rushed him to the hospital as soon as we reached there but he had already died. We were not aware of the deceased's wish to donate his eyes," said a police officer.
A case of hit and run has been registered and CCTV footage is being examined to identify the vehicle which hit scooty of deceased.
