Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Wednesday expressed happiness over the BCCI granting its affiliation to the state cricket association, saying it will open up opportunities for young cricketers of the state to display their talent internationally.
Rawat made the comments while meeting a delegation of officials of the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand, led by former minister Hira Singh Bisht, which called on him at his residence.
He said the BCCI affiliation which had come after a wait of 19 years was the collective victory of all the people who had fought for it all these years regardless of their political affiliations.
"The interest of the state should come first. Let's keep the team spirit alive," he said to the delegation.
