The BCCI has called an Emergent Working Committee meeting on Saturday in Chennai to discuss the possible implications of banned former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi's re-entry into Rajasthan Cricket Association.
All the affiliated units of BCCI have received a circular in this regard and are gearing up for the decisions that will be taken by BCCI president N Srinivasan at the meeting.
"We have received a circular stating that there is an Emergent Working Committee meeting in Chennai on December 28. The agenda is to discuss about Lalit Modi," a senior BCCI official told PTI today.
Modi, who got permission from the Supreme Court to fight elections and is likely to get back his Rajasthan Cricket Association president's post back.
However, some stern decisions are on the cards on that day as the BCCI might just move to alienate the state association if Modi continues to be at the helm of affairs.
"All the possibilities including the future of the Rajasthan's state teams (from senior to age-group), annual grants that it gets and hosting of IPL matches will be discussed.
"There are some stern actions that are likely to be taken. Also it will again be reiterated that since Modi has been banned for life by BCCI, he won't be allowed to enter any sub-committee or be a part of any BCCI meetings," the official added.
The move is being seen as president Srinivasan's way of getting his house in order as he is expected to seek for another three year term being nominated from the East Zone during the AGM in September 2014.
