The controversial Bill relates to regulation of the legal education system, which is currently under the BCI's domain.
"The manner in which these Bills are drafted and are sought to be introduced by the HRD Ministry is clandestinely trying to sideline and to harm the advocates of the country and their elected statutory bodies in the matter of legal education and legal profession," BCI Chairman Manan Kumar Mishra said in statement.
"These Bills have not at all taken into account the ground-realities, availability of infrastructures, the social and economical conditions prevailing in India. Apart from being arbitrary, the said Bill is totally impractical and attempts to spoil the tested and well established traditional norms of education system of the country," he said.
The BCI held a joint meeting of its Chairman and office bearers of all Delhi bar associations here to protest the HER Bill as well as other related bills.
The apex body for lawyers is also opposing The Foreign Educational Institutions (Regulation of Entry and Operations) Bill 2010, The National Accreditation Regulatory Authority for Higher Educational Institutions Act 2010, The Prohibition of Unfair Practices in Higher Educational Institution Bill 2010, The Educational Tribunals Bill 2012 and The National Law Schools Bill 2011.
