BCI Chairman Manan Kumar Mishra told reporters here, "We have achieved a grand success in two days' strike by showing our strength and seriousness of our protest against the Bill."

"After seeing this strength and unity of the fraternity, we are hoping that our demands to withdraw this Bill will be met. Otherwise we are going to intensify our protest," he said.

On July 11 and 12, lawyers from across the country had stayed away from work in courts, except the Supreme Court, as a part of nation wide protest called by BCI against inclusion of legal education in the Higher Education and Research (HER) Bill, 2011.

Outlining the future actions BCI have planned, in case Human Resource Development (HRD) ministry refuses to agree with their demands, Mishra said, "Thousands of lawyers from across the country will sit on 'dharna' at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on the opening day of the coming monsoon session of Parliament."

"From there we will march to the Parliament and demand immediate withdrawal of the Bill," he said.

Introduced in Rajya Sabha last year, the Bill seeks to establish a National Commission which will regulate university education, including legal, vocational, technical, medical and professional education.
