Some suspected Trinamool supporters had put up a barricade outside the Gram Panchayat office to prevent Congress and CPI-M members of the board to cast their vote in the no-trust motion brought by them against Panchayat Pradhan Satabdi Sarkar of the TMC.
When the police broke the barricade to take the CPI-M and Congress members inside the premises, the said TMC supporters hurled bricks at them from an adjacent house.
District S P Prasun Bandyophadhay said BDO Dulen Ray suffered head injuries while two policemen were also hurt in the brickbatting. Five persons were arrested in the incident.
Local MLA Bhupendra Nath Haldar of the Congress praised the impartial role of the police and said that the BDO and the injured policemen were undergoing treatment at Molpur Health Centre.
