A Block Development Officer (BDO) and a chief of a panchayat samiti were allegedly assaulted by the supporters of an Independent MLA today.
Lesligung BDO Angarnath Swarnakar and chief of panchayat samiti Sangita Devi were allegedly assaulted by the supporters of Independent MLA Videsh Singh at the BDO's official chamber.
An FIR has been lodged on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner of Palamau, K N Jha against one Pramod Singh, supporter of the Independent MLA and about a dozen others, police said.
According to Swarnakar, the assault was preceded by an altercation over clearing pending bill on account of the development work done under Local MLA fund.
Sangita Devi, who was present at the time of the incident, also lodged a written complaint alleging that the accused roughed up with her and drove her out from the BDO's official chamber.
The Deputy Commissioner said it was a serious incident as the accused persons have prevented an administrative officer from discharging his duty.
Swarnakar, who reportedly suffered injuries on his head and stomach in the incident, immediately apprised the matter to the Deputy Commissioner, who then directed the police to lodge an FIR.
