Be active in cleanliness drive: Sukhbir tells Punjabis

Hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cleanliness drive, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal called all Punjabis to become active associates of the Swach Bharat Abhiyan and build a a garbage-free India.
Sukhbir said that Punjab has already taken "perceptible initiatives" in this regard with the division of the state into 8 clusters, of which some had already begun work.
He said that these solid waste projects would generate power besides producing manure, and asked the concerned officials to maintain the tempo of the drive besides ensuring timely completion of the projects.
"An awareness drive should also be launched in all districts to encourage general public for cleaning of streets, roads, railway stations, workplaces, bus stations, parks, community centers, historic places, ponds," he said.
Sukhbir also said that urban local bodies will undertake the cleanliness work of roads with mechanised machines.
Lauding the initiatives of Modi, he said the Prime Minister has brought massive improvement, internally and externally, for the betterment of India.
India has been scaling new heights on bilateral diplomatic ties and international relations with the bold initiatives taken by Modi, he said.
Sukhbir also flagged off NCC cadets and NSS volunteers under Swach Bharat Abhiyan and planted saplings at Multi Sports Stadium in Badal village here.
