Be present only if notification on court fee structure r'tions

: Madras High Court today directed Home Secretary Apoorva Verma to be present in court only if the process of issuing notification over recommendations of rationalization of court fee structure was not over by December 22.
The first bench, comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice M Sundar, gave the direction when a batch of petitions seeking rationalization of the fee structure came up today
The Home Secretary was present in Court.
A Committee headed by Late Justice K Sampath had submitted a report on September 6 2016 as per the orders of First Bench, headed by the Chief Justice.
The court noted that even after submission of the report, approved by two senior government officers, the state government had yet to notify it which made the bench call for the Home Secretary today to know about its implementation.
Advocate General R Muthukumaraswamy who appeared on behalf of the State government, submitted that the file has been cleared by the Home and Law Departents and was with the Finance Department and thereafter would be circulated.
The bench recorded the Submission and said "It shall be ensured that all these processes are over by the next date of hearing. Listed on December 22. The Home Secretary to remain present only if the process, for any reason, is not over.
