forest was left seriously injured in an attack by a bear in Kolasib district near the Assam border, police said.
According to police, the victim, identified as one Rinmawia, was yesterday gathering wood along with a friend in the jungle near river Tut when the female bear, which was guarding its litter, attacked him, pinning him to the ground and inflicting serious injuries to his head.
Police said that Rinmawia had his friend to thank for his rescue as the latter struck at the animal with a 'dao', forcing it to leave the profusely bleeding man, they said.
