Beary Sahitya academy awards to be presented on Apr 16

The Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy would confer its annual honorary awards to prominent persons in the community at a function to be held here on April 16, Academy president B A Mohammed Hanif said today.
The awardees are B M Haneef, Bengaluru, Mohammed K Mata, Uppinangady, and Mohammed Ali Uchil, Abu Dhabi, he told reporters here.
Wahab Doddamane memorial research award would bepresented to Yakub Khader Gulwadi and P Sushila Upadhyaya memorial Beary women to Maryam Ismail at the function, hesaid.
Kannada and Culture Minister Umashree, district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai, Mangaluru south MLA J R Lobo and Mangaluru north MLA Mohiuddin Bava would be present at the function.

B M Haneef had been chosen for theaward in the field of language and literature, while Mohammed K Mata inthe field of art.
Mohammed Ali Uchil, Abu Dhabi had been chosen in the field of culture and organisation, he said.
Beary is a community concentrated in coastal Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka.
