Beauty pageant winners pledge to make East proud

Reliving the moments when her name was announced as the winner of 'Femina Miss India East 2015', city girl Tanya Hope says she finds showbiz an interesting ball game.
The bubbly youngster, who had varied interests in dance, sketching, music and movies, says being from Bengal she would carry forward the rich cultural heritage on the national platform.
"I don't think studies and modelling or acting run contrary with each other. Confidence matters," Tanya says.
Another Kolkata girl Ruchira Mukherjee, having emerged as the first runners up of the 'fbb Femina Miss India East', says she believed we must bunk the notion that, "Being beautiful usually tantamounts to being dumb."
Ruchira, a commerce student of a city college, says she believes education and modelling can be pursued at the same time.
Zennyla Bhutia, the second runners up, had been crowned the Miss Sikkim 2012, Mega Miss Northeast 2012 winner.
Actor-director Parambrata Chatterjee, one of the judges, said all the 20 finalists had grace and poise, but the three were chosen as they gave most articulate statements to queries by judges which included fashion designer Kiram Uttam Ghosh and Ex Miss Asia Pacific World Srishti Rana.
Parambrata had asked a contestant what will she do if that was the last day of her life and she replied she would work her bit to stop attacks on women.
