Bedlam in Odisha Assembly over special category status demand

Pandemonium prevailed in the Odisha Assembly for the second day today, with opposition Congress staging protest against Speaker's refusal to a debate on the demand of special category status to the state.
Unable to run the House, the Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat adjourned the Assembly till 11.30 AM only after a transaction of two minutes during pre-lunch session.
As soon as the House assembled for the day, Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh of Congress raised the issue, seeking to know about the status of their notice for a debate on the subject.
As Speaker asked revenue minister to give a reply, the opposition members rushed to well of the House and shouted anti-government slogans.
The Assembly had witnessed similar situation yesterday leading to repeated adjournments.
Meanwhile, Assembly sources said Speaker has accepted the notice of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on a full fledged discussion on the issue tomorrow.
The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) has finalised a six-hour discussion on the matter and the House may pass a resolution supporting the state government's demand of a special category state status for the state.
