Flight 6E-339 was ready to take-off after the passengers had boarded the plane at 9.40 AM when it was held up after a humming sound emanated from the cargo section of the aircraft, airport sources said.
The sound was traced to a few bees which appeared to have decided to hitch a ride.
As the passengers remained seated in the cabin, two fire engines were pressed into service and firemen swung into action, the sources said.
The firemen had to battle for over half-an-hour before the offending creatures could be driven away, sources said.
The flight finally took off at 10.05 AM, sources said, adding that none of the passengers were stung by the bees.
