:Madras High Court Bench today ordered notice to the Chief Secretary and Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption on a PIL praying for a direction seeking a probe against state minister K T Rajendra Balaji for allegedly amassing wealth disproportionate to known sources of income.
Justices Sudhakar and Vaidhyanathan directed the Government advocate to get the instructions.
Petitioner R Mahedran sought a direction to the DVAC to enquire and register a case against the Minister, based on his October 10, 2013 complaint.
He submitted that Balaji, Minister for Information and Special Programme Implementation, had stated in his affidavit filed when he contested the May 2011 assembly election that he was not an Income Tax assessee and did not have a PAN card.
He had declared movable properties worth Rs 18.88 lakh and immovable assets worth Rs 19.11 lakh.
But after becoming a Minister he had purchased 35 acres in Devathanam village for Rs 74 lakh, the petitioner claimed and alleged that in recent months he had bought properties worth Rs one crore.
He said he had to approach this court after authorities took no action on his complaint.
