"West Bengal is among the fastest growing states. With a per capita consumption that is a mere five kg per annum as against 12 kg and growing at 15 per cent nationally every year, the plastic industry in West Bengal is putting up rapid growth to catch up with the national average," Plastindia Foundation president K K Seksaria said here.
He said Haldia Petrochemicals, new petrochemical plant of Brahmaputra Crackers & Polymers Ltd (BCPL) in Assam and upcoming polypropylene plant of Indian Oil at Paradip will increase raw material supply substantially in eastern India and encourage growth of plastics industries in West Bengal and eastern India.
West Bengal state government initiated a slew of infrastructural reforms to attract investments in the state and the same will help to grow the industry in this region, the officials said.
