Bengal BJP demands enquiry on state election special observer

The West Bengal unit of the BJP today sought a detailed enquiry on Election Special Observer Sudhir Kumar Rakesh alleging that he acted irresponsibly during the Lok Sabha polls in the state.
Stating that his party has written to the Chief Election Commissioner, BJP state president Rahul Sinha said here "We demand an independent investigation and enquiry on his doubtful and irresponsible role during the elections."
In the letter, Sinha alleged that polling in 600 booths in 17 parliamentary constituency was jeopardised due to the alleged inefficiency of Rakesh.
He said that Rakesh's admission in the local media that he was unable to gauge the situation was an attempt to find a scapegoat.

BJP Hoogly candidate Chandan Mitra alleged that the same jungle raj prevailed under the Trinamool Congress government as during the erstwhile Left Front rule.
Seeking repoll, he said, was worse going by the example of Dhonekhali where seven local leaders were injured yesterday by the TMC goons.
Sinha requested Chief Election Commissioner V S Sampat for special arrangements for EVMs at strongrooms without involving Rakesh.
