Bengal celebrates 'National Nutrition Week'

National Nutrition Week is being celebrated in West Bengal as part of the celebration all over the country to raise awareness about the role of nutrition in human development.
The celebrations began from September 1 at Barasat in North 24 Parganas on September 1 with Antara Acharya, District Magistrate, inaugurating the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Acharya stressed on the importance of nutrition in humans and asked the district administration to ensure that there is not a single severely malnourished child in the entire district of North 24 Parganas.
N N Tiwary, Deputy Technical Advisor, Food and Nutrition Board (Eastern Region), Kolkata, explained the theme of National Nutrition Week this year, which is 'Life cycle approach for a better nutrition'.
The inaugural programme of National Nutrition Week was attended by many distinguished guests including 80 frontline workers of ICDS projects in North 24 Pargans district.
The week will be observed through various programmes in other districts as well including Howrah and Kolkata up to September 8, state officials said.
The Food and Nutrition Board under the Ministry of Women and Child Development has been celebrating National Nutrition Week to raise awareness about the role of nutrition in human development.
