The West Bengal CID today said it has arrested the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha's Delhi unit chief from the national capital's Safdarjung Enclave area, for his alleged involvement in a clash between GJM supporters and police in June this year.
"We arrested Manoj Shankar from the Safdarjung area yesterday. He was directly involved in the clash on June 9 and was providing shelter to those who were involved in it. We need to question him," a senior officer of the West Bengal CID told PTI.
The state CID had last month issued warrants against absconding GJM chief Bimal Gurung and his wife, along with six other party leaders in connection with the incident.
The GJM leaders leaders were booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, the West Bengal Maintenance of Public Order Act and Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
"Shankar has also been booked under the same sections and he is being brought to the state," the officer said.
