"As an elected representative of people from West Bengal, I feel urgency to draw your attention and involvement towards an immediate and peaceful solution in the hill district of Darjeeling," Chowdhury said in the letter to Modi.
An RPF office, a police outpost and a state-run library were set on fire in Darjeeling hills as the indefinite strike demanding a separate state entered its 30th day today.
"Given the geo-strategic sensivity of the area, the Union & state governments and local leaders together should explore an amicable solution so as to restore peace and normalcy in the hills," the letter said.
