"Soon we shall release the list of remaining candidates for rest 27 wards under KMC," the WBPCC president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury told reporters after announcing the first list.
To a question, Chowdhury said "We have shortlisted those as our candidates, who will be most effective in the area. Popular local face is our priority."
Out of the 117 candidates declared in the first list, there were 41 women candidates.
Even as some Congress leaders joined the Trinamool Congress, Chowdhury claimed a good number of TMC workers joined the Congress to work in their respective areas.
