The Trinamool Congress government is formulating a policy to bring in doctors from other states to meet the shortage of doctors in West Bengal.
"We are planning to formulate a new policy to bring in doctors from other states to meet the shortage of doctors in the state. Let's see it (the proposed policy) is still in the planning stage. We hope we will be able to come out with a plan very soon," former minister and chairman West Bengal medical services corporation Chandrima Bhattacharya said.
West Bengal principal heath secretary R S Shukla said the state is taking several steps to attract doctors from other states.
Union Health Minister J P Nadda had said a few days ago that the country is facing shortage of doctors but the government is taking several measures to address the issue as "health for all" is its objective.
