Announcing this, Banerjee said they have shortlisted the names of recipients of Mahanayak Uttam Kumar Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award, without any bias or favour, irrespective of party lines.
This is for the first time that Dadasaheb Phalke awardee actor Soumitra, best known as Satyajit Ray's detective 'Feluda', would be given an honour by Mamata Banerjee government ever since it came to power a year ago.
Complaining that he was not properly invited by the state government, Chatterjee had stayed away from the inaugural ceremony in the last edition of the Kolkata Film Festival (KFF).
However, the authorities later on made up with him and he attended the closing function of the film carnival.
The lifetime achievement awards will be given on July 24 at a programme on the occasion of legendary Bengali actor Uttam Kumar's death anniversary.
Soumitra's contemporary Supriya Debi and Sabitri Chatterjee would also be awarded for their excellent contribution to Bengali cinema.
