Announcing this here today, state's Public Health Engineering (PHE) Minister Subrata Mukherjee said that as per rule the project is on a joint sharing between the centre and the state government with 75:25 basis.

"But we have urged the Centre to share it with the state government on 90:10 basis and waiting for approval," Mukherjee said quoting his letter to the Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh.

The project covering 100 mouzas under Barasat and Gaighata would be completed within 18 months, he said.

Meanwhile, a team of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) would be visiting the state's drought-prone Purulia district on July 21 for a Rs 1300 crore drinking water project.

A similar project at the cost of Rs 1400 crore would also come up at Bankura district with the help of JICA, the Mukherjee said.
