While Ajgar will take part in the 2000 cc Indian National Rally Championship, his teammate Chaudhuri will compete in the Indian Junior National Championship (up to 1600 cc).
"I have been in the circuit for quite some time and had always wanted to promote the sport in the state. But somehow or the other, efforts to float a team from the state did not fructify for monetary reasons mainly," Ajgar said.
"But it's is a proud moment for all of us. This team is here to stay and will give opportunity to young drivers to get a foothold on the national circuit," the driver from Haldia said.
Chaudhuri who hails from the city, said: "West Bengal led the national rally circuit in the 70s and 80s. We have a rich tradition for motor racing. We want to bring the glorious days back. Team Speedy Bongs is here to stay."
