Bengal to award India's largest floating solar plant by March

The West Bengal government was expecting to award the country's single largest grid connected floating solar power project in Murshidabad by March, a top official said here today.
"Tender had been floated for the project and we hope to award the contract in March. Once it is successfully executed at Sagardighi Thermal Power Project, we have lined up at least two more such large projects," state Power Commissioner A N Biswas said on the sidelines of an event of Forum of Regulators of Eastern and North Eastern states.
As of December, Kerala has the largest floated PV solar project of 500 Kwh size.

"The two other proposed projects are 5 MW floating solar project at the site of Santaldih and 10 MW at Barkeswar thermal power plants. But, we will wait till the first one gets executed," he said.
The project is being executed by West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited.
It is set to be developed on Raw Water Pond Number 3 of the Sagardighi Thermal Power Project on a turnkey basis.
Meanwhile, West Bengal State Regulatory Commission chairman R N Sen said it will give full support by rolling out the regulations soon after the West Bengal government comes out with rooftop solar policy.

Biswas said the policy was currently with the state finance department.
