"Once land is available, the Housing Department will build LIG flats for the poor people in Jangalmahal to fulfil the promises made by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee," Biswas said during handing over of facilities at an LIG Starlit housing project at New Town Action area-II.
He said that all the corruption allegations in the joint venture projects between Housing Board and private developers will be investigated.
"There will be case to case inquiry into allegations that private developers were given land at a cheaper price to construct housing projects."
In many cases, the private developers did not fulfill the stipulated requirement to build a sizeable number of flats for the LIG people, he alleged.
There were cases, he pointed out, where 25 per cent of the flats were not earmarked for the LIG people though they availed of the land at a cheaper price. They had gone for building more flats for MIG and HIG people, the minister claimed.
He said the housing board would build many flats for the poor people in future.
