The West Bengal government has given priority status to fill up 141 vacant posts of anganwadi supervisors in 23 blocks of Left Wing Extremists-affected areas in Jangalmahal, according to state minister for child welfare Shashi Panja.
Replying during question hour in the Assembly today, Panja said that there were 68 blocks in the LWE-affected areas in the state.
Out of that, 141 supervisor posts in 23 blocks would be filled through new recruitment, for which the viva voce would take place from March 5 to 11, the minister said.
Panja said that there were 2,825 anganwadi supervisor posts across the state, out of which 25 per cent would be filled through promotions.
Later, the minister told reporters that the state was planning for an exit age for the anganwadi workers, which would be 65 years.
The government was also planning to offer a one-time two-year honorarium for those exiting at that age, subject to the clearance of the finance department.
