With 'Chander Pahar' having notched up Rs 20 crore, Bengali cinema is now reaching a buoyancy. "We have to keep that momentum to sustain the phase. Next in the line of release is IFFI winner Apur Panchali by Kaushik Ganguly," Mahendra Soni told PTI today.
Soni, who along with Srikant Mohta got the 'Ananya Samman' of a channel two days back on behalf of Sri Venkatesh Films, the premier Bengali production house having collaborated with all top notch producers, said, "We miss Rituda (Rituparno Ghosh). He was like a mentor - his rebuke, his advice everything. The Bengali film industry lost one of its pillars."
The biggest production house, having made the Rs 15 crore budget film and top grosser 'Chander Pahar' with superstar Dev is also behind Sandip Ray's upcoming Feluda flick 'Badshahi Angti' casting thinking actor Abir Chatterjee and 'Chaar'.
"For me 'Phoring' happens to be the most promising work by a young director for its freshness in recent times. The situation seems promising enough," director Anik Dutta of 'Bhooter Bhabisyot' fame said about Tollywood having varied contents these days when asked for comments.
