'Bengali directors infuse unique sensibilities in Hindi flick'

Pointing out that 'Strings of Passion' aims to further take the legacy of Bengalee-origin directors in Bollywood, film maker Sanghamitra Chaudhury says she would love to film any period work on a bigger canvas in future.
"Yes, in 'Bidehi' by Tagore in Bengali I had sought to recapture how he was fascinated with the idea of the other world and sought to invoke the spirits. If it is called an effort to go back to a particular era, my sojourn with periodicity goes on," the 'Chhayajuddha' director told PTI at the premiere of the Zeenat Ahmen-starrer.
Sanghamitra, who rated 'Kahaani' by Sujoy Ghosh as one of the recent Hindi films retaining lot of Bengali sensibilities including certain typical phrases, said films like 'Parineeta' by Pradip Sarkar and even 'Barfi' had such elements.

"I had sought to highlight the unconventional fact that even boys can get abused physically in the showbiz as sub-plot which is integral to the main story of love setting off among two individuals of different ages. But not in a blunt, hard hitting way," she said.
Strings of Passion, starring veterans Rajesh Sharma, Indrani Halder and new actors Sangita and Shubh, was premiered in Mumbai and Kolkata and released here and in some other cities.
