Better offtake, tight supply lifts sugar prices

Sugar prices were up by Rs 40 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following pick up in demand from stockists and retailers amid restricted supplies.
Marketmen attributed rise in sweetener prices increased offtake by bulk consumers, driven by ongoing festive season and tight supplies from mills.
Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 traded higher by Rs 40 each to Rs 2,980-3,120 and Rs 2,970-3,110 per quintal.
Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also edged higher by Rs 10 each to Rs 2,710-2,930 and Rs 2,700-2,920 per quintal.
In the millgate section, sugar Simbholi, Thanabhavan, Budhana, Khatuli and Dhanora quoted higher by Rs 20 each to Rs 2,920, Rs 2,760, Rs 2,770, Rs 2,920 and Rs 2,760, while Dorala by Rs 15 at Rs 2,770 per quintal.
