Richa, who will be seen in debutant Neeraj Ghaywan's Cannes-acclaimed "Masaan", said the industry and the audience have become more receptive to actresses, especially in lead roles.
"It is a good time for female actors because there is greater acceptability. I also feel meaty roles are being written for actresses. I loved 'Queen', 'NH10' and 'Piku'... Great roles for women are there right now," the actress told PTI.
Richa, 26, is happy to be a part of "Masaan", whose story is set in Varanasi, as she feels it is high time films utilised modest backdrops.
The "Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!" actress, who is known for preferring meaty roles over big banners and a film's commercial value, said she cannot star in any movie if her character does not make sense to her.
