Betting rackets busted, six held
Press Trust of India Muzaffarnagar Days after three Rajasthan Royal cricketers were arrested in the spot-fixing scandal, police today claimed to have busted two betting rackets relating to IPL matches in separate raids with the arrest of six persons here and recovered around Rs two lakh in cash.
Acting on a tip-off, the crime branch of the district police raided a houses in Gandhi Colony yesterday and arrested three people, identified as Rinku, Gaba and Vikki from whom Rs one lakh, a laptop and nine mobiles phones were recovered, SSP Manzil Saini said.
In a separate raid, three youths- Raja, Ashok and Sachin were arrested with Rs 80,000 in cash and several documents in Shamli town, he said.
A case under relevant sections of IPC has been registered in this regard against the accused, the SSP added.
