R&B star Beyonce has shown her support for the LGBTQ community following her concert in North Carolina, which has recently passed the Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act.
The 34-year-old singer brought her "Formation" world tour to Raleigh, NC, on May 3 despite a number of stars calling off their gigs in the state in protest over the Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act, which decides which toilet a transgender person can use.
Instead of cancelling her gig, Beyonce took to her website to encourage people to support Equality NC, a local organisation dedicated to securing equal rights and justice for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) North Carolinians, reported Female First.
"As The Formation World Tour makes its stop in the Tar Heel state in the midst of such a controversial time, we think it is important for us to bring attention to those who are committed to being good and carrying on the message of equality in this core of controversy.
"Among the many organisations doing the good work to get this bill overturned, there is Equality NC, a local organisation dedicated to securing equal rights and justice for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) North Carolinians."
Recently Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas followed in the footsteps of Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen, Boston, Ani DiFranco and Ringo Starr, who have opted out of playing concerts in the state to make a stand against the newly-instated law.
