BGB chief pays homage to BSF heroes of 1971 war

Border Guards of Bangladesh (BGB) chief Major General Abul Hossain today paid homage to the BSF heroes of 1971 Indo-Pak War at Kilapara in western Meghalaya.
The new BGB Director General arrived at Kilapara to pay homage to the martyrs, whose supreme sacrifice denied Pakistan the strategic control over the Dalu-Tura road during the Liberation War of Bangladesh, a BSF spokesperson said.
The BGB chief also laid a wreath at the memorial.
Sacrifice made by Late Mohammad Ashfaq who had deserted Pakistani Air Force and joined the Mukti Bahini (Liberation force) was also remembered in presence of BSF Meghalaya Frontier chief IG PK Dubey.
The names of nine BSF martyrs who laid their lives are engraved in golden letters on the War Memorial, which stands on the Indo-Bangladesh Border.
Commanders of BSF and BGB also discussed various other issues related to guarding the border.
