BGR Energy forays into water treatment biz

Engineering, procurement and construction major BGR Energy has forayed into water treatment business by bagging two orders worth Rs 649.50 crore.
In the project bagged from Andhra Pradesh Power Distribution Company Ltd, Krishnapatnam, valued at Rs 209.50 crore, BGR Energy would set up 3 x 800MW water treatment plants which includes manufacturing, shop inspection, testing and commissioning, among others, city-based BGR Energy said in a statement.
The treatment capacity of the plants are more than 55 million litres per day and construction of the units would be completed in 23 months, it said.
In the second project valued at Rs 440 crore bagged from Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, BGR Energy would set up tertiary treatment reverse osmosis plant of 45 million litres per day capacity at Kodungaiyur near Chennai.
The scope of the project, includes design, build and operate of the plant, the statement said, adding the project is funded by World Bank.
With the two latest orders, the order book of BGR Energy has risen to Rs 10,425 crore, it added.
