'Bhaag Milkha...' cost Pawan hit films like 'Kai Po Che'
Press Trust of India Mumbai Noted actor Pawan Malhotra had to say no to films like 'Special 26', 'Kai Po Che' and 'Mere Dad Ki Maruti' because he could not adjust dates while working on the much awaited movie 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag'.
Pawan is best remembered for his portrayal of Tiger Memon in 'Black Friday', Kareena Kapoor's uncle in 'Jab We Met', as Narang in Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Don' and others.
Now, he will be seen as a coach in Farhan Akhtar starrer 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag'.
But, for this one film he couldn't do hit films like Abhishek Kapoor's 'Kai Po Che', Neeraj Pandey's 'Special 26' and Aditya Chopra's home production film 'Mere Dad Ki Maruti'.
"I couldn't do three films 'Special 26', 'Kai Po Che' and 'Mere Dad Ki Maruti' because of date issues, as I had to allot dates for 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag'. In 'Mere Dad Ki Maruti' I was supposed to do Ram Kapoor's role, in 'Kai Po Che' I was to play Amit Sadh's uncle, but in 'Special 26' I was not told about my role," Pawan told PTI.
"I think it is all written in your destiny, one has to move on. But deep inside there is always some kind of regret," he said.
However, Pawan is excited about his role of a coach, Gurdev Singh, who recognises the talent of legendary athlete Milkha Singh, played by Farhan Akhtar.
"I play his (Farhan Aktar) coach in the film, who was the first one to train him. He was strict, used to shout and yell at him during the training period. But apart from being his coach, he was like his elder brother. They shared a very close relation as he used to fall on him even when they were not in touch," Pawan said.
