A court here has granted permission to the main accused of the Bhanwari Devi abduction and murder case, Mahipal Maderna, to go home to perform the last rituals of his uncle, who died two days ago, under police custody.
This furlough will remain effective from today to November 8.
"Maderna had sought one month's interim bail following the death of his uncle but the court rejected the application and granted him permission to perform the last rituals of his uncle at his ancestral village for 10 days from today under police custody," said special CBI counsel Ashok Joshi.
Maderna will have to be back in the jail on November 9.
Maderna's uncle, Mohan Ram Maderna, passed away on Tuesday at his ancestral village Chadi Laxmanan in Osian sub-division of Jodhpur, following which he had moved an application in the court of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (SC/ST cases) Mahendra Kumar Sinhal, seeking an interim bail for a month.
