Bharat bandh affects normal life in Meghalaya

Banks and financial institutions, shops and market places remained closed while government offices and few educational institutions which were open, registered negligible attendance, especially in the state capital.

Few private vehicles and government buses plied on the city streets while supply trucks and taxis remained out of the highways and roads.

Meghalaya unit BJP general secretary Dipayan Chakraborty and 26 other party volunteers were detained in the morning and let off in the afternoon while the Meghalaya Joint Council of Trade Unions and Associations staged protest demonstration.
