With the water crisis in Bundelkhand deepening, Union minister Uma Bharti along with Lok Sabha members from the parched region today called on NITI Ayog Vice Chairman Arvind Panagariya to discuss special package for the affected swathe.
During the meeting, it was decided that the parliamentarians will submit proposals for improving supply of drinking water in the region to the Ayog within three days for further action, Water Resources Ministry spokesperson Samir Sinha said.
"The minister met Panagariya along with the MPs representing 13 districts of Bundelkhand to discuss special package for the region. It was decided that all the MPs will submit their proposals for improving supply of drinking water in the region to the Ayog within three days for further action," Sinha said after the meeting.
Like Maharashtra's Marathwada, the Bundelkhand region, which covers 13 districts falling in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, too is reeling under water shortage.
