With the Uttarakhand government announcing its decision to table Bhati Commission report in the state assembly, BJP today approached the Governor seeking his intervention to stop any action based on the probe panel's report terming it as "unconstitutional".
A BJP delegation led by Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly Ajay Bhatt today met Governor Aziz Qureshi and handed him a memorandum urging him to stop any possible action by the government based on the recommendations of the probe panel, saying it had not been constituted according to the norms.
"No action should be taken based on the recommendations of Bhati commission as norms were not followed at the time of its constitution," the memorandum said.
The BJP delegation also demanded removal of Harak Singh Rawat as the Chairman of the Tarai Evam Beej Vikas Nigam Ltd, saying his appointment was "illegal".
Bhati Commission which is probing a slew of alleged scams during the previous BJP government in the state recently submitted its report on an alleged scam in Tarai Evam Beej Vikas Nigam Ltd to Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna.
The state government on Saturday announced its decision to table the probe panel's report in the state Assembly on March 20 and also lodge FIRs against people responsible for the scam.
