Bhawanipatna records 45 degree Celsius

The western region of Odisha today continued to reel under intense heatwave condition even as many parts of the state experienced rainfall.
Bhawanipatna in western region for the second consecutive day remained the hottest place in the state recording a maximum temperature of 45 degrees Celsius against yesterday's 44 degree Celsius, while the mercury stood at 42.7 degrees Celsius in Sonepur, the meteorological centre here said.
The maximum temperature in Sambalpur was 43.1 degrees Celsius, followed by 42.3 degrees Celsius at Jharsuguda and Hirakud and 42 degree Celsius at Sundargarh, it said.
At least four places the mercury level remained above 40 degrees Celsius. While Bolangir recorded 41 degree Celsius, the maximum temperature at Titlagarh was 40 degree Celsius.
The maximum temperature in Bhubaneswar was recorded at 34.1 degrees Celsius, while Cuttack recorded 35 degrees Celsius, the MeT office said, adding that the relative humidity in the state capital touched 98 per cent.
The MeT office predicted rain and thundershower and cloudy sky in next 24 hours.
