The portion of the ramp of Bhikaji Cama flyover on the busy Ring Road which has "sunken" a bit allegedly due to construction of a metro subway beneath it is "completely safe" for vehicular movement and will be repaired shortly, authorities today said.
The flyover was built by the PWD and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation will monitor it till the project is completed.
"The flyover is completely safe for traffic movement and the approach ramp will be repaired and restored shortly," PWD said in a statement.
"The arrangements were to be made by DMRC for observation on development of any crack in the R E panels and settlement of road during further pushing of the box. The crash barriers were cut vertically so the effect of the vertical settlement in this area may not affect the other area of the ramp.
"To prevent any accident, barricading has already been done," the statement said.
Settlement is a term used in civil engineering parlance and it means level of soil going down due to construction activities underneath it.
DMRC has completed the work of pushing the box under the ramp of the flyover and the rest of the underpass would be constructed by them using cut and cover method, it added.
