To highlight the harmful effects of tobacco, Bhopal Runners (Run Bhopal Run) will be organising various programmes along with the district administration on the occasion of World Anti-Tobacco Day on May 31.
"We are organising various programmes, including camps for cancer examination, drawing and slogan competition among others, to raise awareness on the issue of hazardous effects of consuming tobacco on the occasion of World Anti-Tobacco Day on May 31," Bhopal Collector Nishant Warwade told reporters.
The day will be observed with the cooperation of social organisation Bhopal Runners in collaboration with the district administration.
The Collector also informed that they have introduced fine ranging from Re one to Rs 200 against persons consuming tobacco at public places.
Explaining the rationale behind the fine of Re one, he said that if a person is poor then he won't be able to pay much, but whenever he is penalised for, he will at least remember that in future he is not supposed to do so.
He informed that recently he himself has imposed fine on few persons on the collectorate premises.
