Bhushan Steel posts Rs 55-cr loss in Q3

Higher finance costs and lower income led Bhushan Steel into the red with the firm reporting Rs 54.79 crore net loss during the October-December quarter.
The company had clocked a Rs 221.20 crore net profit in the corresponding quarter of the last fiscal, it said in a BSE filing.
Income of the company fell to Rs 2,407.16 crore during the quarter from Rs 2,529.07 crore a year earlier.
Expenditure, however, went up to Rs 2,047.80 crore from Rs 1,954.68 crore a year earlier.
Meanwhile, finance costs of the company also grew to Rs 432.08 crore from Rs 293.01 crore.
Bhushan Steel said due to explosion during the trial run of the second blast furnace at its Meramandali plant in Odisha on November 13, 2013, the operation at the blast furnace has remained suspended, resulting in loss of production.
